Doug Marcaida, a Filipino-born martial artist, edged weapons specialist, and knife designer based in Upstate New York, began his martial arts journey at age 8 and discovered his passion for Filipino Martial Arts at 25. A U.S. Air Force veteran and former Respiratory Therapist of 20 years, Doug developed his own style called Marcaida Kali and has traveled globally to train military and first responders in his protective philosophy: “It’s not about how many you hurt, it’s about how many you protect,” which inspired his catchphrase, “It will K.E.Al” (Keep Everyone Alive). He is a judge on the History Channel’s Forged in Fire and Desafío Sobre Fuego: Latin America, and has partnered with 5.11 Tactical to release the DM Talon knife series. Doug also collaborates with leading knife brands like KBar, Bastinelli Creations, Max Venom, Fox Knives, and Jason Knight Knives, and shares his latest work on Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram @dougmarcaida.
