Range FAQ
Are you open to the public?
We are open to the public 7 days a week. View our Hours of Operation. Also, members receive exclusive perks along with a private hour to shoot daily. To review our membership options, click here.
What is the range fee?
Our 25 and 50 yard lanes are $30 per hour. For more information view our full range pricing.
How old do you have to be to shoot at Texas Gun Experience?
You must be 18 years or older to shoot unaccompanied. Anyone under 18 needs to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Can my child shoot?
Children 10 and older must be accompanied by a parent to shoot. We will take younger children with experience on case by case basis. Any child under 10 will need to be evaluated to shoot. Simply email training@texasgunexperience.com to set up a time.
Can I shoot without a permit or license?
Anyone can shoot at our range with a valid government-issued ID.
Can I shoot if I am not a U.S Citizen?

How long are your lanes?
We have state of the art 25 and 50-yard lanes.
What calibers are allowed in the range?
We allow any caliber between .17HMR - .458
Do you have a dress code?
Please dress in appropriate attire for shooting keeping in mind there is hot brass ejected from all firearms.
Can I make a reservation?
Members of Texas Gun Experience can reserve lanes. If you are hosting an event or party, we would love to help, email events@texasgunexperience.com.
Do you allow cameras in the range?
Yes, cameras are allowed at the range to take photographs. Please maintain the privacy and safety of our guests. Ensure you are following all range rules while taking pictures.
Is eye and ear protection required?
Eye and Ear protection is mandatory while on the range. If you do not have eye and ear protection, we will have them available for sale at range check in.
I’ve never shot a gun before, can you help?
We encourage everyone to feel comfortable when shooting. Let range check-in know when you arrive so we can have a Range Safety Officer help you or check out our training offering online.
Can I shoot my own guns?
Yes, you can. However black powder firearms as they are NOT allowed. Always inform an RANGE SAFETY OFFICER if you are shooting full auto.
May I use my own ammo?
You are welcome to use your own ammo in your personal firearms. Keep in mind no incendiary or tracer rounds are allowed. Also, only slugs are permitted in shotguns.
Can I shoot my Full Auto guns?
Yes, you can. Please notify the range personnel during check-in and a Range Safety Officer when you arrive at your lane.
Can I shoot one-handed?
Yes you may shoot single handed, as long as you are shooting in a safe manner following all range rules.
Can I shoot 2 guns at the same time?
No, shooting 2 guns at the same time is not allowed.
Will your facility allow draw from holster?
Yes, we will allow draw from holster. Please notify range check-in and a Range Safety Officer once you get to your lane and read our range rules first.
Will you allow rapid fire?
Yes, we allow rapid fire in 2-3 round bursts. Please communicate that you will be doing this to a Range Safety Officer prior to firing. If you lose control of your firearm at any time, Texas Gun Experience reserves the right to revoke the permission.
Do you allow BB or Pellet Guns?
Lead .177 caliber and above is allowed. However, we do not allow BB guns for safety reasons.
Do you allow Black Powder firearms?
Black powder firearms are NOT allowed.
How many people can shoot on one lane?
For safety and visibility, we limit lanes to no more than 4 people.
How much does it cost for a second shooter on my lane?
Additional Shooters are $15 shooters per lane. See our full Range Pricing for more details.
I am a private instructor; can I use your lanes to teach?
Yes, gain access to training others at our facility by emailing training@texasgunexperience.com.

How old do I need to be to buy ammunition or a firearm?
You must present a valid government-issued ID and be at least 18 years of age to purchase rifle ammo or a rifle. You must be 21 years of age to purchase a handgun or handgun ammo.
Do you handle FFL Transfers?
Yes, we handle FFL transfers for long guns, handguns and NFA items. For more information check our FFL Transfers page
Can I trade in my firearm or sell it for cash or store credit?
Absolutely. If you have firearms that you no longer want or need let us evaluate them and provide a cash or trade in offer. Please ensure your firearms are unloaded prior to entering the building. If you have questions or need help contact us.
Do you take consignments?
No we do not, but we will offer you a fair price based on current market value to purchase your firearm on the spot.
Can I buy a machine gun?
Yes. Machine guns manufactured prior to 1986 are available to purchase by civilians. Let us know if you are looking for something specific.
What is the tax stamp fee for NFA items?
We partner with Silencershop for processing tax stamps. The price is $245 for the tax stamp and paperwork fee.
How hard is it to own a suppressor/ silencer?
Owning a silencer is easy. Let our retail team help you navigate the necessary steps. Stop by the Retail store to get the process started today.
What do I need to own a suppressor / silencer?
To own a suppressor, you will have to apply for a tax stamp and have a valid government-issued ID. Ask any member of our retail team for additional information.
What is the difference between a single shot trust vs traditional trust from Silencershop?
A single shot trust is for one item and one time only. A traditional trust can be for multiple items with no limitations to amendments. Single shot trusts are $25, and a traditional trust is $130.
What are the benefits or buying NFA items as an Individual vs a Trust?
Buying as an individual only allows you to be in position of the item. Buying on a trust allows you to add trustees and beneficiaries. Trustees can be in possession of your NFA item without you present. Beneficiaries are designated to inherit your item as well.
Do you handle Form 1’s?
We do not process form 1’s, but we can advise the next steps and the best ways to handle it.
What calibers can be shot through a suppressor/ silencer?
Each suppressor is rated for different calibers. For more information contact our retail team.
Where do I get NFA engravings done?
We do NFA engravings. Speak to our Sales team to schedule a time for your engraving.
Do you donate to charity or sponsor shooters/ shooting teams?

Membership FAQ
What is a service fee for?
Service fees go toward a variety of things, but mostly it goes toward the administrative costs of processing your memberships such as paperwork, membership cards, software, as well as employee training to give you the best membership experience possible. Platinum level service fees help maintain the VIP experience since there is a limited amount of VIP memberships available.
Is the service fee a one-time charge or a monthly charge?
This is a one-time charge only and will not be charged to you monthly.
Do law enforcement, first responders and military get discounts on membership?
They sure do! Teachers and senior citizens receive the discount as well. They receive a 20% discount on all our standard memberships in appreciation for their service. Email us at memberships@texasgunexperience.com for more information or to sign up!
What do I need to provide in order to receive the America’s Best Discounts?
Just show us your work or school ID and Veterans can bring in their DD214 or similar.
How does Texas Gun Experience define "family member"?
Family includes a spouse or significant other and any children under 25 living at the same address. If you have questions about this, please email us at memberships@texasgunexperience.com.

Where can I find what classes you offer?

Do you have prerequisites for any of your classes?
Yes, some advanced classes will require that you have prior education. You should be able to see a list of prerequisites in the description of each class. If you have prior training before coming to us and would like to get into an advanced class or a maintenance program, simply email training@texasgunexperience.com to discuss your skillset with our Training Manager.
Can you do custom training or corporate training?
Yes, we can customize your training. Whether it is onsite or at your facility, email us at training@texasgunexperience.com
